With Facebook newsfeeds covered with promotions of candidates’ Facebook pages, Twitter trending with numerous amounts of hashtags; both campus and social media sites are swamped with candidates campaigns for this year’s election. The more noticeable places such as bridges, Market Square and the library are littered with posters, banners, placards and signs.

Examples of the inspired word play include George Balmford’s ‘You’d be Balmy not to’ and the return of Chris Wall’s ‘Bring on the wall’ slogans.

Candidates for full time officers (YUSU President, Welfare & Community Officer, Students’ Activities Officer, Academics Officer and Sports President) will start off with an election debate chaired by Graeme Osborn tonight at 8.30pm in Roger Kirk Centre, James College.  The Yorker will be Liveblogging the whole debate on our website. Students are also able ask questions by posting on the event page, or by using the hastag #YUSUelection on Twitter.
