Samara Jones wins YUSU President role in 2019 Officer Elections

Samara Jones has become President of the University of York Students’ Union for the 2019/2020 academic year.

Samara Jones has won the 2019 YUSU President election against Rohail Karim, Flavio Sansa, Christopher Oldnall, Nayomi Karthigesu, Tim Nguyen, Connor Drake, Anna Spowage and Chris Small. In second place was Chris Small followed by Tim Nguyen.

 

Academic Officer was taken by Giang Nguyen

Activities Officer was taken by Ollie Martin

Community and Wellbeing was won by Steph (Effy) Hayle

York Sport was taken by Maddi Cannell

This year’s YUSU elections saw a voter turnout of 31%, with 37,998 ballots cast and 6,140 voters. Voter turnout by college was highest among James, Langwith and Alcuin College. Congratulations to all candidates elected!
