The body of a man found by a police search team in the River Foss is that of a missing student, the North Yorkshire Police announced today.
At 1:30pm today, police search teams recovered a body from the River Foss, behind the Castle Museum. Later today the police confirmed that it was that of missing student Ethan Peters.
Ethan Peters, a Goodricke student in his third year of study, was last seen on Sunday 2nd on Coney Street in the city of York. The Peters family has been informed.
Police divers and marine search units have been scouring the River Foss for several days. Helicopters were also deployed on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Jackie Smart commented:
“Our thoughts are with Ethan’s family and we will do everything we can to support them at this very difficult time. We would like to thank the members of the public and the media who have supported the appeal”.
