On the 16th of April at 10.00am, Dame Kelly Holmes will visit the University to open the new York Sport Athletics Track.
Dame Kelly Holmes is a retired British athlete who won two gold medals at the 2004 Olympics in the 800m and 1500m events. She has since devoted her time to charitable causes, even setting up her own charity in 2008 called the DKH Legacy Trust to support young athletes.
Out-going Sports Union President Grace Clarke excitedly posted a status on social media yesterday announcing the news.
A charity fun run will also take place as part of the track opening.
