The Yorker photo competition winner: Louise Bond
Museum Gardens by Louise Bond
This is the best picture I have taken of York; in that classic debate that is as old as time itself, pro-snow or anti-snow, I am firmly on the haters' side.
Snow is disruptive, it makes everything difficult and no institution handles it efficiently. It is also cold, and I'd trade all the snow in the world for a day of sun and warmth. All in all, snow just puts me in a bad mood.
However, one thing snow does have is that (before the run of days epitomised by slush and mud that never fail to follow a perfect snowfall) it is beautiful. This is a picture I took in Museum Gardens the morning after the snow this February.
