Alongside this, the festival is a BAFTA-Qualifying short film festival, meaning that if you’re film gets screened here and at one more recognised festival, you may be eligible for a BAFTA. Therefore, this is a festival that is promised to bring quality programming. It is a breeding ground for emerging talent with films from previous years even going on to win awards at BAFTA and the Oscars.
This year the festival has a huge range of programming, from Comedy Shorts to Documentary to Thriller, and that’s only naming a few. Aside from the films they’re showing there is also some incredible events happening across the festival. Some of the highlights this year include The UK’s First Industry Marketplace. This is the first event of its kind in the UK where delegates and attendees get to meet face-to-face with organisations such as BFI Network, Sheffield Doc/Fest plus many more. There is also opportunity to see Industry Professionals such as Chris Wyatt who will be presenting ‘The Art of Editing’ in their very own masterclass. As a BAFTA and BIFA-Nominated film editor he has credits ranging from God’s Own Country to This is England.
With such exciting events happening and such a broad range of films being screened it’s undeniable that Aesthetica has a lot on offer this year.
